Spring has finally sprung! Before you know it, high school seniors will be making their final college decisions, juniors will be taking the SAT, and everyone will be studying for finals.
There’s a lot going on this time of year, but even with a busy schedule, it’s still important to search and apply for scholarships. Give yourself a financial boost by applying for these awards with April deadlines. Good luck and happy hunting!
Scholarships for high school students
- Peters Foundation Scholarship: High school seniors who are pursuing Environmental Studies, Conservation, or Forestry and planning to attend a Christian college in Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, or Wisconsin can apply for this scholarship. Applicants must submit ACT or SAT scores and one writing sample; an interview may also be required. Recipients will receive the award in installments over four years. Awards: Up to $5,000 per year; Deadline: April 1
- AFA’s Teen Alzheimer’s Awareness College Scholarship: This scholarship for college-bound high school seniors asks applicants to write an essay of up to 1,500 words or submit a video up to four minutes long describing the impact that Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia-related illness has had on their lives. Applicants must be US citizens living in the US and planning to attend a US college in the fall. One grand prize and additional runners-up prizes are available. Awards: Up to $5,000; Deadline: April 1
- V&E Scholars Program: This program is open to any Texas high school senior from Austin, Dallas, or Houston with an interest in pursuing a career in a law firm setting. Applicants must also have financial need and a strong high school record, be in the top 20% of their class, score 1100 on the SAT or 22 on the ACT, and have a valid Social Security Number. In addition to the scholarship, winners will receive a summer internship offer, mentoring from Vinson & Elkins attorneys, and reimbursement for an LSAT prep course. Awards: $10,000; Deadline: April 1
- Richard H. Pierce Memorial Scholarship: In honor of the MES Foundation’s founder who passed away in 2011, this scholarship is available to Maine high school seniors who intend to enroll at a two- or four-year degree-granting college or university. Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence as well as financial need and submit a personal essay of 300 words or more, plus two letters of recommendation. Fifteen renewable scholarships are available this cycle. Awards: $5,000 per year; Deadline: April 1
- CMP Scholarship Program: The Civilian Marksmanship Program offers several different scholarships that are open to graduating high school seniors who are US citizens, have a 3.0 minimum GPA, and have demonstrated marksmanship competition experience. Applicants must be accepted to attend a college, university, or trade school leading to a diploma or certification. Most are one-time awards, but four renewable awards are also available—including the Carolyn Hines Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to the top graduating senior who best exemplifies Dr. Hines’ ideals. Awards: Up to $5,000 per academic year; Deadline: April 4
- JCCIA Women’s Division Scholarship: This scholarship is open to young ladies of Italian heritage who are graduating high school this year and planning to enroll full-time at a two- or four-year accredited institution. Applicants must be residents of Illinois and have at least one parent of Italian descent as well as a minimum GPA of 3.0. An essay about Italian heritage, two recommendation letters, and standardized test scores are required, and the recipient must attend the Scholarship Benefit Fashion Show and Dinner in Oak Brook Terrace to accept the prize. Awards: $2,000; Deadline: April 5
- Craig D. Butler Scholarship: This is a great merit-based scholarship opportunity for Black and African American seniors who are residents or attend high school in Pennsylvania or Camden County, New Jersey. Applicants must have an average GPA of 3.0 and be entering a two- or four-year college or technical school as a full-time student in the fall of the contest year. Award: $1,000; Deadline: April 11
- Lime Connect Pathways Scholarship for High School Seniors: This program is designed for current high school seniors with all types of disabilities who are pursuing degrees at four-year colleges and universities in the US or Canada. Applicants must log in to The Lime Network (it’s free to join!) and answer one essay question related to living successfully with a disability. Finalists will be asked to provide reference information, and 13 recipients will be chosen. Awards: $1,000; Deadline: April 15
- Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes: This scholarship is open to US and Canadian students aged eight to 18 who are currently working on an inspiring service project (or have done so within the past 12 months) that has made an impact on a community in need. Applicants must be working as individuals to lead their service work; large group work is not eligible. A letter from a lead reference (such as a teacher, librarian, school counselor, youth service official, or religious leader) is required as well as two additional letters of recommendation. Awards: $10,000; Deadline: April 15
- Scott and Kim Verplank Foundation: High school seniors diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes who are US citizens, managing their diabetes properly, and committed to participating in athletics should apply for this scholarship. Awards are renewable for up to four years, and recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA to be eligible. Awards: Up to $10,000; Deadline: April 15
- US Stockholm Junior Water Prize: This is the world's most prestigious award presented to a high school student who has conducted a water science research project. The annual competition is open to all students in grades nine through 12 who have reached the age of 15 by August 1 of the competition year. Teams of two may submit research as well, and any student may self-nominate for their state competition. State winners are sent to the in-person national competition in June. The national winner will then represent the US at the international competition held at World Water Week in Sweden in August! Award: $10,000; Deadline: April 15
- Anne Ford Scholarship: The National Center for Learning Disabilities offers this opportunity to high school seniors with documented learning differences (LD) who are enrolling in full-time bachelor’s degree programs in the fall. Students who have ADHD in addition to an LD are especially encouraged to apply. At least one recommendation and responses to three personal questions are required, which can be answered in text, video, or audio format. Award: $10,000 (awarded over four years); Deadline: April 20
- Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship: Also sponsored by the National Center for Learning Disabilities, this scholarship is open to high school seniors with a documented learning difference who are planning to enroll in a two-year community college, vocational, or technical training program, with similar application requirements as the Anne Ford Scholarship. Award: $5,000 (awarded over two years); Deadline: April 20
- Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Young Scholars Program: This opportunity is open to high-performing 7th grade students with demonstrated financial need. The program provides extensive support for five years, including academic and college advising, financial support starting in ninth grade, Cooke-sponsored summer programs, internships, and other enrichment opportunities. Multiple scholarships are awarded each year. Awards: Amounts not disclosed; Deadline: April 30
- Ukulele Festival Hawaii Scholarship Program: A nonprofit seeking to build public awareness and interest in the instrument, Ukulele Festival Hawaii offers an annual college scholarship to a graduating high school senior and resident of Hawai'i who has a passion for ukulele as well as good character and a history of meaningful community service. Two letters of recommendation, a personal statement essay, and demonstrated financial need are also required. Award: $2,000; Deadline: April 30
- Think for Yourself Essay Contest: Let Grow’s Think for Yourself scholarship is open to high school seniors ages 16 and older who are legal residents of the US; Washington, DC; Puerto Rico; or Guam and plan to enroll no later than the fall of 2027 in a post-secondary institution, including a two- or four-year college or university, trade school, online, or vocational school program. To enter, applicants must choose one of four prompts to write an essay of 600–800 words. One grand prize and three runners-up will be awarded. Awards: Up to $8,000; Deadline: April 30
Scholarships for high school and undergraduate students
- Employment BOOST Academic Scholarship: This scholarship is open to accepted US high school seniors as well as two- and four-year college students with GPAs of 3.6 or higher. Applicants may be undecided or pursuing any major, but one of two scholarships will be given to a student pursuing Business or STEM fields. An essay of 500–1,000 words is required. Awards: $1,000; Deadline: None; applications accepted year-round on a rolling basis
- Herbert Lehman Education Fund Scholarship: This program supports students who demonstrate financial need, academic achievement, and a commitment to social justice. It is open to high school seniors, college freshmen, and students transferring to four-year colleges before junior year—particularly those from historically underrepresented backgrounds. There is no minimum test score or GPA requirement, and awards are renewable for up to four years to help recipients complete their undergraduate degrees. Awards: $3,000 per academic year; Deadline: April 1
- American Nuclear Society Scholarships: These awards are open to graduating high school seniors as well as community college and trade school students pursuing STEM degrees and careers in Nuclear Science and Engineering. Applicants must be American Nuclear Society members; recipients of Incoming Freshman scholarships are required to join before receiving the funds. (Other undergraduate and graduate student awards are offered in February.) Awards: Up to $5,000; Deadline: April 1
- Gus Archie Scholarship Program: Sponsored by the Society of Petroleum Engineers Foundation, this merit-based scholarship is open to high school seniors and current undergraduate students intending to enroll in a Petroleum Engineering program. The scholarship typically goes to students who are in the top 3% of their class for both grades and standardized test scores, and it is renewable for up to four years. Recipients must become SPE members once they are eligible. Award: $5,000 per year; Deadline: April 15
- Hoffer & Sheremet Empowering Education Scholarship: This scholarship is open to both incoming and current undergraduate students who are interested in the legal system. Applicants may be pursuing any major and must submit an essay on one of three legal topics, with one scholarship awarded for each topic. Awards: $500; Deadline: April 15
- Walker Williams Wilson Scholarship: Black and African American men are eligible for this award if they are high school seniors with a minimum GPA of 2.7 who have been accepted to a Historically Black College or University (HBCU), or a full-time college student at an HBCU with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants must submit a short essay or video on three provided topics. Awards: Amounts vary; Deadline: April 21
- Black and Positively Golden Scholarship: McDonald’s and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund have partnered to offer over 60 scholarships to outstanding students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Applicants must be US citizens or legal permanent residents; enrolled full-time as an undergraduate first-year, sophomore, junior, or senior at an HBCU this coming fall; have a GPA of 2.7 or higher; and demonstrate leadership abilities as well as financial need. Awards: Up to $15,000 per academic year; Deadline: April 25
- CARiD Scholarship: US students ages 16–20 who are enrolled in post-secondary education are eligible for this fun no-essay scholarship opportunity. All you have to do is submit a photo inspired by any aspect of the automotive industry. Award: $1,000; Deadline: April 30 (and October 31)
- Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund: This is a great opportunity for students with a strong desire to pursue their first undergraduate degree despite personal and/or socioeconomic setbacks, including teen pregnancy, former incarceration, interrupted schooling, poverty, and homelessness. High school seniors, students with GED diplomas, undergraduate college students, and students at vocational and trade schools are all welcome to apply. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents who are 25 years or younger with a minimum 2.0 GPA and a household income of $75,000 or less. Awards: Amounts vary; Deadline: April 30
Scholarships for undergraduate students
- The Heinlein Foundation Scholarship Program: Four scholarships are available to current STEM undergraduate students (excluding incoming freshmen) at accredited four-year colleges and universities, including one award dedicated to a female pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Engineering, Biological Sciences, or Physical Sciences. The program is open to students of all genders worldwide, though more females apply vs. males historically. Applicants must submit a brief explanation of their career goals and background as well as a 500–1,000-word essay on one of six provided prompts. Awards: $4,000; Deadline: April 1
- Dairy Shrine Scholarships: Dairy Shrine offers numerous scholarships to college students who are planning careers and graduate study in the dairy industry related to Agricultural Economics/Accounting, Dairy Consulting, Dairy Genetics, Dairy Equipment, Dairy Extension, Dairy Nutrition, Dairy Feed/Pharmaceutical Sales, Dairy Science, or Dairy Research/Teaching. Scholarships are based on leadership, activities, academic ability, and interest in the dairy industry. Each one varies regarding what grade levels are eligible—from two-year college students to current undergraduate first-years, sophomores, juniors, and seniors—so check each award’s directions and requirements carefully. - Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation Scholarships: AKA-EAF offers a variety of merit- and need-based scholarships that are open to all undergraduates, including international students, Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority members, and non-members. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate engagement in community service as well as exceptional academic achievement. High school students, first-year college students, and prior recipients are not eligible. Fellowships are also available for groups, organizations, and companies for research, with the same application deadline. Awards: Amounts not disclosed; Deadline: April 15
- Ofield Dukes Multicultural Student Award: Sponsored by the PRSA Foundation, this scholarship is open to college juniors who are students of color and pursuing a Journalism program, Public Relations studies, or courses preparing for a career in PR. Students of African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, Asian, Native American, Alaskan Native, and Pacific Islander ancestry are eligible. Applicants must also have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate a commitment to service and social responsibility. Award: $1,000; Deadline: April 30
Scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students
- SBB Research Group STEM Scholarship: Undergraduate freshmen–juniors; undergraduate seniors attending graduate school; and graduate freshmen–juniors are all eligible for this scholarship, including international students. Applicants must submit an essay of 500 words or fewer on their most significant STEM experiences and how they'll use STEM principles to improve the world. A total of 12 scholarships are available throughout the year, with one awarded each month. Awards: $2,500; Deadline: Applications accepted from March 1–May 31
- Armenian Relief Society of Eastern USA Scholarships: The ARS of Eastern USA offers several undergraduate and graduate scholarships for students of Armenian descent attending accredited four-year institutions or pursuing higher education in Armenia. One opportunity is specifically for students from the Middle East attending college in the US. All scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need, academic merit, and involvement in the Armenian community. Awards: Amounts vary; Deadline: April 1
- WIIT Scholarships: These merit-based scholarships from the Association of Women in International Trade (WIIT) are offered to juniors, seniors, and graduate students who identify as female. Applicants may be studying any aspect of International Trade, including trade policy, economic development, women’s economic empowerment, and more. In addition to the monetary award, the winner will receive a year of mentorship from a WIIT member, a year-long membership to the organization, and access to an organization learning program based on the winning essay topic. Awards: $3,000; Deadline: April 1 (and November 1)
- CREW Network Foundation Scholarships: This program is open to female undergraduate juniors and seniors as well as graduate students pursuing brokerage, construction management, law, finance, engineering, and many other qualified fields of commercial real estate. Applicants must be citizens of the United States or Canada and enrolled at an accredited college or university with a minimum 3.5 GPA. Personal and professional references as well as a commitment to a career within the commercial real estate industry are required. A paid summer internship opportunities, CREW student membership, a travel stipend to attend a conference, and mentoring opportunities will be awarded along with the 25 undergraduate and 15 graduate scholarships. - BMO Capital Markets Lime Connect Equity Through Education Scholarship: This opportunity is open to US and Canadian undergraduate and graduate students pursuing Business, Commerce, Computer Science, Engineering, Financial Services, Math, Physics, or Statistics who have a visible or invisible disability. Applicants must maintain at least a 40% course load and plan to pursue a career in financial services. Awards: Up to $10,000; Deadline: April 8
- ASID Scholarships: Sponsored by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), these awards are open to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing Interior Design programs. Multiple scholarships are available, and applicants must submit research papers, portfolios, publications, or other proof of dedication to public health and wellness, education, behavioral science, and other relevant topics. Awards: Up to $12,000; Deadline: April 15
- Waple & Houk, PLLC Scholarship: This law firm offers a scholarship to a student pursuing an undergraduate degree in Pre-law Studies or a student entering law school this year. Applicants must be accepted into a program at any US school for 2025, have a GPA of 3.0 or above, and write an essay on a topic of their choice related to an area of law that interests them. Scholarships for graduate students
- Blanche Fierstein Scholarship: Honoring a leader in special education and vocational training, this scholarship supports graduate students pursuing advanced degrees in Special Education. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in a college or university in Nassau County, New York; an AHRC Nassau employee with at least one year of service; or an AHRC Nassau Lifetime Member. Award: $5,000; Deadline: April 1
- Gloria Barron Wilderness Society Scholarship: Graduate students who seek to make a positive difference in understanding the wilderness and how to protect it should apply for this research award. Applicants must submit a cover letter, an official proposal for the research paper they’ll write, a résumé, transcripts, two letters of recommendation, and a proposed budget for how the funds will be spent. Two recipients will be chosen, with the prize granted in two installments. Awards: $25,000; Deadline: April 15
- ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship: Offered by the American Bar Association (ABA), this scholarship supports first-year law students from underrepresented backgrounds who demonstrate financial need, academic excellence, and a commitment to promoting diversity in the legal profession. Recipients receive funding over three years to help cover tuition costs. Award: $15,000; Deadline: April 15
- Han C. Choi Scholarship: Offered by the NAPABA Law Foundation and the Choi Family, this scholarship supports 1L or 2L law students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, volunteerism, and a commitment to AAPI civic issues. Special consideration is given to applicants affected by cancer, whether as survivors or family members. Award: $5,000; Deadline: April 18
Scholarships for (basically) everyone
- $25,000 Be Bold No-Essay Scholarship: Sponsored by Bold.org, this scholarship is awarded to the student whose profile is the “most bold”—defined here as earnest, determined, and moving. Applicants of any education level, state, field of study, and GPA will be considered. This contest has rolling monthly application deadlines until December, so students applying earlier will have a greater chance of winning. Award: $25,000; Deadline: April 1
- Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund: These scholarships are open to students who have been active in movements for progressive change and social and economic justice. Applicants must be enrolled in degree or certificate programs at the post-secondary level, demonstrate financial need, and provide a personal statement regarding their goals and activities in 1,000 words or fewer, among other requirements. (If you are applying to a program and have not made your decision by April 1, you must let the sponsor know once you’ve made your decision.) Recipients who have previously received a grant may reapply each year that financial support is sought. Awards: Up to $15,000; Deadline: April 1
- Oregon Nurseries Foundation Scholarships: High school, college, and graduate students in Oregon who are enrolled in or planning to pursue Horticulture or Botany programs can win a variety of awards with one application. Applicants must submit two references and a cover letter that describes their future involvement in horticulture, financial need, and affiliation with the awarding association. The foundation offers 20 scholarships in total; students may be awarded more than one scholarship, and past recipients are encouraged to reapply. Awards: Up to $3,000; Deadline: April 15
- 10 Words or Less Scholarship: Anyone between the ages of 14–25 who will be attending school this fall can apply for this opportunity from StudentScholarships.org. Just “like” their Facebook page and leave a comment on any post explaining why you deserve the scholarship in 10 words or fewer. Award: $1,000; Deadline: April 15
- Create Real Impact Contest: Middle school, high school, trade school, and college undergraduates ages 14–22 are all eligible to enter this contest, which includes multiple competitions. Applicants must be US citizens or DACA eligible and are asked to present a solution to distracted driving through a 30-second PSA video, graphic design, or social media campaign. Students can compete in team and individual categories, with multiple prizes awarded. (Advisors must register their school for the video and graphic design contest no later than March 25.) Awards: Up to $10,000; Deadline: April 15
- HireAHelper Skilled Trade Scholarship: Students looking to join a skilled trade should take advantage of this opportunity, which is offered four times a year to high school seniors as well as undergraduate, graduate, technical college, and vocational school students. Applicants must have a minimum 3.4 GPA to be eligible, and recipients are chosen by a random drawing. Award: $2,000; Deadline: April 16
- Innovation in Education Scholarship: This monthly scholarship is open to high school, college, and graduate students who write an essay on an innovative project they’ve designed that makes a difference in the lives of others. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be US or Canadian citizens. Award: $500; Deadline: April 20 (same date every month)
- E-Waste Scholarship: Raising awareness about digital responsibility and the impact of toxic e-waste that can seep into the ground and ultimately get into groundwater supplies, this scholarship is open to high schoolers, undergraduates, and graduate students who are US citizens or legal residents. Homeschooled students are also eligible for this award, and there’s no age limit. Applicants must submit a 140-character statement that completes this sentence: The most important reason to care about e-waste is... Award: $1,000; Deadline: April 30
- ISA with WorldStrides Scholarships: Multiple opportunities are available through this scholarship program for studying abroad or traveling during a gap year. Students can travel and have an immersive experience in Australia, England, New Zealand, South Korea, or Spain. Awards: Up to $5,000; Deadline: April 30 (fall deadline; other deadlines include October 30 for winter/spring and February 28 for summer)
- MyMozaic Scholarship: This monthly scholarship sweepstakes is open to US citizens who are 13 years and older. All you have to do is provide your email address to apply. Selection is based on the quality of your MyMozaic profile, including documents, photos, videos, and followers. Award: $1,000; Deadline: April 30 (last day of every month)
- 1st Financial Bank Financial Goals Scholarship: This monthly scholarship is open to US residents who are 18 or older and currently enrolled (or planning to enroll) in a college degree program. Though it’s a random drawing, it does require applicants to submit a short essay of 500 words or fewer. Awards: $2,000; Deadline: April 30 (last day of every month)
- $2,000 No Essay Scholarship: Sallie Mae offers an easy scholarship contest that both students and parents can enter each month. It’s open to legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, or any US Territory who are age 16 or older at the time of entry. Award: $2,000; Deadline: April 30 (last day of every month)
- Right to Work Essay/Video Contest: The National Institute for Labor Relations Research sponsors this contest with up to 10 winners each month. Applicants must write an essay or submit a video explaining the right-to-work principle and how it benefits individuals in the United States. This contest is open to all students attending US high schools, colleges, and graduate schools, with checks mailed to the winners. Awards: $100; Deadline: April 30 (last day of every month)
